Today is Kyle's last examination day & last day of school na rin. And today is the day I promised to give him the laptop complete with games.

Mahal promised this to him eversince he  started schooling last year because he already has computer classes. But me, thinking that it might be a distraction sa studies nya, hindi ko muna binigay. I just downloaded educational games like Jumpstart & Math Stuff.

Pero last week, I told him that since it's already his summer vacation, I will allow him to use the laptop na. So I updated everything and removed all unneccessary programs and just put the educational games I got from the net. Kinulit nya ko na tapusin this afternoon so yan ang ginagawa ko the whole afternoon..hays...

Parang ayoko pa nga din ipagamit sa kanya kasi I want him to experience playing outside & doing other things naman this summer. Mahal & I are trying to convince him to enroll in summer programs like Aikido, Taekwondo & Football classes kaya lang ayaw nya I was having a hard time talking to him about it. He really wants to "stay home" the whole summer. If he only knew that he'll be missing a lot of fun.

Oh well, we still have 1 month pa naman para kulitin sya. (Ate Love, help! )

I won't update the games na lang para pagsawaan nya maglaro ng PC. Hehehe...

This morning, I checked my mailbox and found this email from Multiply:

It says that they found copyrighted material in one of my playlists and that they have deleted it. If ever they find any copyrighted media from my site, they will have to cancel my account (OMG!)

I find this email kinda late na kasi diba they already removed the download feature from all of our sites? So why threaten to close anybody's account now?

Anyways, from now on, all content from my site will be restricted to my contacts only, specially shared music. Ayokong i-risk ang Multiply account ko. Maybe I'll have to refrain or limit myself from posting mp3s muna.

Nasanay kasi ako when I was preggy, pagmulat ng mata, pc na agad ang kaharap ko, at nag-sign-in na agad sa ym kahit hindi pa nagbbreakfast, sa bed na magbbreakfast habang ka-chat si mahal.
Pero now that I have our phoneline na...di na dapat ganito...I have to really stop this bad habit...

From now on, I promise not to turn on my pc until 9AM.

Oh well, another so-so day. :roll eyes:
Nothing much, but the usual, woke up at 5am, prepped Kyle's school stuff, went back to bed, got up at 7am with CK peeking at me...

Don't misinterpret me... I love my kids, I love being a full-time mom, but lately, life gets a little too boring. I'm a person pa naman who easily gets bored. I've been working eversince I graduated, heck even before I graduated. Yep! I've been a full-time career-woman until CK came and changed our lives so I had to stop working and be a full-time mom.

Anywas, enough of the intro, here's what crossed my mind minutes ago:

This was given at one of Kyle's Family Convocation when he was still in pre-school
A beautiful article about LOVE...

I scanned the page but I thought it was too small to read so I also copied the text.

I CORINTHIANS FOR PARENTS

If I live in a house of spotless beauty, with everything in its place,
but have not love, I am just a mere housekeeper, not a homemaker.

If I have time for waxing and polishing cars and decorative achievements,
but have not love, my children learn cleanliness, not godliness.

Love leaves the dust in search of a child's laughter.
Love smiles at the tiny fingerprints on a newly cleaned window.
Love picks up the child before it picks up the toys.
Love reprimands, rebukes and is responsive.
Love is present in every trial.
Love crawls with a baby, walks with the toddler,
Runs with the child, and then steps aside
To let youth walk into adulthood.

Love is the key that opens salvation's message into a child's heart.
Before I became a parent, I took glory in my house of perfection;
Now I glory in God's perfection in my child.
As a parent, there are so many things I must teach my child.
But the greatest of all is LOVE.

I just got this from Ate Wilma's shop.
I was contemplating on getting another family picture for Kyle's blow-up picture but he said he likes another photo to be blown up so I asked Ate Wilma to frame this one.
This is the same layout they did for Kyle's DVD cover.
I love it!

These past few weeks, I found myself browsing the internet for recipes. It started with the buttercream icing I made for Kyle's cupcakes. After that, I made these:

Sarap noh?

Then the week after, I was browsing for recipes that are kid-friendly para sa school lunch ni Kyle. I even researched for a recipe for Tonkatsu sauce because he really loves that Tokyo-Tokyo recipe. Then kinabukasan, I was cooking his baon for him like Adobo & Grilled Cheese (naks! ang hirap ah!)

I'm not expert at cooking, pero sabi nga ni Mahal, "Ang lakas mong chumamba!" Yes, you read right, malakas akong chumamba...hehehe... I remember when I first cooked real ulam for him when he went on vacation here, nag-aral ako magluto talaga ng mechado, beef & mushrooms at monggo.. haha! My hubby & I loves to eat. Kaya siguro I'm this willing to learn to cook.

Saka this is one of the things I wanted to achieve this year. LEARN TO COOK, and not basta cook lang, syempre dapat masarap! Kaya eto, super aral ng recipes para pagdating ni Mahal eh meron naman akong bagong recipe na iluluto for him.

Hmm...I've been meaning to write since Monday haven't got the chance to...I really got to get rid of my habit of procrastination. This week, I had the chance to hone (naks!) some of my hidden skills.

Wannabe # 1 - Cook
The week started with me cooking for my son. Yes, I cooked adobo for Kyle . It's funny coz he was the one who really requested it last Sunday saying something like "Mommy, hindi mo na ko ipinagluluto ng adobo mo." Then I asked him if he likes me to cook the day after and he said "Yes." What's special with my adobo? Hehe... I put sugar...My adobo dish is bordering from Barbecue to Teriyaki style. Well, whatever you call it, my son loves my cooking.

As of now, I am currently searching the net for Kid-friendly recipes that Kyle will love to have for his school lunch. I plan to cook more for him because I noticed that he eats a lot when he knows that mommy cooked the food.

Wannabe # 2 - Computer Technician

Well, my "wannabe" week doesn't end there...prior to that or should I say while I was cooking, I was talking to hubby on the phone. He was asking for instructions on reinstalling & reformatting his friend's laptop. (Technical support, Hello?). They were looking for some Toshiba drivers they need to make the thing run properly... LOL! After an hour of exchanging installers & links, they were able to restore the laptop in it's working condition. Whew! Talk about multi-tasking!

The following days were just plain boring, nothing exciting...except siguro if I dismantle my own PC and put it back together...LOL! Oh by the way, I finished 3 games in the past 3 days. Yes, you read right, that's an average of 1 game per day. Go-Go Gourmet, Flip or Flop & Cake Mania 2. Afer finishing flip or flop, I promised myself to stay away from the computer as much as possible (except when blogging at least once a day). I vowed to spend more time reading, learning to cook and take more pictures of ME, CK, Kyle and other stuff and update my blog every once in a while.

I recently updated my Friendster Profile with a theme from one of my online buddies, and a proud thememaker, Shar.

Installing the theme wasn't easy as copying & pasting CSS codes. Nope, it includes lots of editing. But I honestly enjoyed doing it. I kinda missed my job when I was editing the codes because I used to edit config files the likes of Shar's html codes.

After an hour, I was able to install the theme and was really satisfied with the results. Like what I said, I enjoyed doing it so I joined a forum where they make overlay codes and read some of the tutorials they have. I'm just trying to find time to edit one more code and apply it to my profile. (I hope it's just ok with Shar, while I'm waiting for her more comprehensive layouts.)

This reminded me of my frustrations of being a Computer Programmer/ Web Designer/ Graphic Artist... LOL!

Yesterday, while browsing through the net, I saw this

As in naglaway at napa-OMG talaga ako! I was waiting for these eversince the Harry Potter fims were released. Although I think it's too early to buy now because there are 2 more movies (Half Blood Prince & Deathly Hollows), I'm already putting it on my wishlist!

What am I talking about & What's inside the Hogwarts Box Set?

Check out this review from DVDTalk.com

The Movies

In the annals of film and literature, the impact of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series is nigh incalculable, both in terms of sheer revenue and the life-changing introduction to a rich fantasy world experienced by many millions of eager childrens and adults. It's arguably the defining fantasy epic of our time, a sweeping, fiercely imaginative creation that only grows more compelling and rewarding with each installment.

It's probably worth noting here that I've never so much as flipped a page of any of Rowling's seven novels; instead, I've sampled her world through these films, which distill the narratives down to their essence. Perhaps someday, I will take the time to immerse myself in the sprawling universe bound in hardback, but these films, I feel, do an admirable job of both placating rabid fans and telling an engaging fantasy story to an audience that may not know a Muggle from a Mandrake.

The five films contained in this limited edition repackaging (all the DVDs are identical to the versions already in print) are as follows:

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)
This first cinematic adaptation hits a home run -- the cast is uniformly excellent, Steve Kloves' screenplay deftly balances humor and chills and Chris Columbus marshals special effects and child actors with aplomb. I won't dig too deeply into the plot mechanics or other specifics, as my colleague Aaron Beierle's thorough review of the film and its original two-disc set does a fantastic job of that.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)
A worthy sequel to an almost universally beloved debut, this installment ups the ante and cranks the intensity -- despite having a rough idea of what was in store for Harry and friends, I found myself flinching a few times. One of the most impressive aspects of Rowling's story is how she refuses to play soft, always placing her characters in dire situations with definite consequences. Again, I'll refrain from wading into who does what to whom, as my colleague Aaron Beierle's thorough review of the film and its original two-disc set sums it up nicely.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)
Director Chris Columbus handed the reins over to Alfonso Cuaron for the third adaptation, largely regarded as one of the most successful book-to-film translations in the series to date. The atmosphere is at once more grim and more fanciful than the previous two Potter films and here, with the third film, is where I personally feel the cast really starts to come into its own. As before, I'm taking a pass on narrative synopsis as my colleague Holly Ordway's excellent coverage of the film and its original two-disc set does a bang-up job.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
Mike Newell takes over for this fourth edition of the Harry Potter series, continuing the narrative's ever darker themes and trying mightily to balance the often unwieldy mixture of magic and exposition. Of the five thus far, Goblet of Fire feels the most uneven to me, but my colleague Holly Ordway's overview of the film and its original two-disc setlays it all out for you.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)
And last, but not least, David Yates assumes control of the wildly profitable and hugely popular film franchise for its latest installment (IMDb says that Yates will return later this year as director of the sixth film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince). It's an intoxicating brew of political intrigue and increasingly raised stakes for Harry and friends as Voldemort draws ever closer and begins making his presence felt in many ways. My colleague Brian Orndorf's look at the film and its original two-disc setprovides plenty of information about the narrative and supplements.

The DVDs

The Video:

Each of the five films is presented as it was originally released on DVD, in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers. While the first film in the series looks great, it doesn't quite have the visual pop of each successive movie that, as technology has progressed, the transfers are getting cleaner, more crisp and vividly detailed. The difference between the images are barely discernible. Overall, an excellent set of transfers.

The Audio:

As with the visuals, the aural end of things is unchanged from previous DVD incarnations, retaining the immersive, detailed soundtracks. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets each have Dolby Digital 5.1 EX tracks, while the other three films have Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. Stone and Secrets also feature Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 EX tracks. The remaining films' audio options are: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (French Dolby Digital 5.1); Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1) and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (French and Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1). Stone features optional English and Spanish subtitles, while the remaining four films all include optional English, French and Spanish subtitles.

The Extras:

As noted above, each of the five films in this set are identical to the versions already in print, except for the packaging, which resembles schoolbooks (the interior are clear plastic trays that hold a DVD on each side). The external packaging, designed to look like Harry Potter's trunk suitcase, is very handsome and latches closed. In addition to all of the supplements included on the original two-disc sets, the previously released "Hogwarts Challenge" DVD is included, as is a disc of new-to-video, mini-documentaries for all five films, each presented in 1.33:1 fullscreen (except where noted), with a Dolby 2.0 stereo track and optional English, French, Spanish or Portuguese subtitles. The docs break down thusly:

Stone: The nine minute, 14 second "A Glimpse Into the World of Harry Potter"
Secrets: The 13 minute "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets ... Revealed"
Azkaban: The 13 minute "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: Something Wicked This Way Comes"; the 10 minute "The Making of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" and the eight minute, 13 second "An Interview in Spanish with Alfonso Cuaron" (playable separately or all together)
Fire: The 48 minute, 44 second "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: Behind the Magic" (presented in anamorphic widescreen); the 23 minute, 23 second "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: Some Animal Magic" (presented in anamorphic widescreen) and the 13 minute "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: Dark Masters, New Masters" (playable separately or all together)
Phoenix: The 23 minute, 10 second "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: The Rebellion Begins" and the 13 minute "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: Fulfilling a Prophecy" (playable separately or all together)

A quintet of Harry Potter bookmarks, along with 16 collectible trading cards, rounds out this extensive set.

Final Thoughts:

In the annals of film and literature, the impact of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series is nigh incalculable, both in terms of sheer revenue and the life-changing introduction to a rich fantasy world experienced by many millions of eager childrens and adults. It's arguably the defining fantasy epic of our time, a sweeping, fiercely imaginative creation that only grows more compelling and rewarding with each installment. This set, an ideal investment for those who haven't picked up any of the Potter films on DVD, is a lock for DVD Talk Collectors Series.

It's worth it, isn't it?

Well, tomorrow will be Kyle's birthday celebration.

The past week has been very tiring, I'm so stressed of what's going to happen sa party. I'm starting to have breakouts na nga sa sobrang stress. My week was a very busy one indeed

  • Monday - went to Divisoria to buy lootbag fillers & prizes
  • Tuesday - spent the whole day (and night, dahil napuyat pa ko actually) cutting & gluing the "Cars" cupcake toppers I made for the cupcakes I ordered.
  • Wednesday - Put strings on the bag tags, sorted the prizes & repacked the candies. I also went to Bounce to endorse these kasi sila na ang bahalang mag-ayos. I even taught Shiela on how I want the tags to be put sa bags.
  • Thursday - Kyle's Birthday -- I decorated some cupcakes after ko sya sunduin from school. I made butter cream frosting and put candies on top of the choco cupcakes. The kids loved it!
  • And today Friday -- eto, windang sa pagfinalize ng guestlist, program  & seating arrangement for the party tomorrow
Here's a sample of the cupcake toppers I made: meron sumobra so I put it in the cupcakes I made yesterday

Kung iisipin, pwede ko naman ipagawa lahat 'to...i-delegate yung pamimili but I chose na mag-DIY because I want to feel na I did something para sa birthday ni Kyle, not just the ordinary coordination thing, but something na pinaghirapan ko talaga...

So that someday, when Kyle flips through the pages of his birthday album and sees these things, he'll say: "Ahh...mommy did that for me"

Sarap ng feeling diba?

That boy is Riam, Kyle's Classmate. Bakit sila magkatabi ni Mai? Hehe, kasi close sila.

Kahapon, sinundo namin si Kyle sa school, nag-rest lang kami sandali before leaving kasi naman napakataas ng inakyat naming bundok! Anyways, while catching out breath, Riam approached Mai kasi nakita nya nagtetext. Na-shock si Mai kasi akala nya daw kung sino yung biglang dumantay sa kanya..hehehe... sabay sabi "Do you have games there?" ayun, kinulit ni Riam si Mai hanggang ibigay nya ang phone sa kanya para mapaglaruan...

After nya paglaruan phone ni Mai, lumapit sya sa kin tapos sabi nya "Where's your phone? I wanna play games." Hehehe...Kaya ayun, turn naman ng phone kong paglaruan nya... nang magsawa na, he left na and humanap na ng kalaro.

Pag-alis ni Riam, I overheard the servicemen talking about him. Ito palang batang ito eh mahilig sa games...as in sobra! Kaya pala ganun..hehehe...

Akala ko nung una, nagagandahan sya kay Mai kaya nya nilapitan eh..lolz! Yun pala maglalaro lang ng cellphone... Cute nila noh?

Meet Chelsea, er, I mean, Dora...

This was the dancing Dora doll my Tita Love gave Clarisse yesterday.

Mai was the one who brought it here since my mom & titas were out for lunch para mag-bonding.

At first we thought she didn't like Dora but after a while, she enjoyed playing with it na din.

She even gave a name for it. But it's not "Dora". I heard her calling it "Teti" which i think, means "Chelsea". LOL!

Here's the final layout of Kyle's Invitation
Bounce na daw ang bahala sa printing since kasama naman sa package ang invites.

and here's the bag tag I made for the giveaways:

So far, ok naman na. I might start distributing the invites on January 26.
Excited na din si birthday boy!

My first collage from scratch. No ready-made, drag & drop templates used...

I'm so proud of it!

Kewl, huh?! I'm planning on making more of these & printing them out. I plan to start a real, physical album/ scrapbook this year. I have something like 10G of photos here in my PC that needs to be sorted & printed out...di bale, one of these days...

But I really love the collage!

December 31, 2007...wow! ang bilis, ilang oras na lang 2008 na!

Bisperas, eto, 4am pa lang, gising na ako.. I had a bad dream kasi.. tsk tsk! Ang hirap na tuloy matulog. Kaya eto, open ng PC test ng bandwidth kung ok na. And to my surprise:

Yippee!!

I'll finally be able to download those Smallville episodes from December 14 airing. I can now finish downloading the PSP games my niece Alyssa was asking for. And more importantly, I was able to upload Clarisse's new pictures kasi nami-miss na syang i-view ni Tita Richelle dito sa Multiply site ko... hehehe...

Well, I'm actually listing down my New Year's Resolution but I'll post it here later. I've got lots of preparations to do today. I'll be the official cook for today as Ate Mylene will be on vacation leave... I also got lots of cleaning to do...especially my closet!

Happy New Year Everyone!

Well, 2 days to go before Christmas and my bandwidth starts crawling...AGAIN!

I noticed the slow internet connection last night while I was chatting with my hubby. The webcam window keeps on freezing...I thought it was just the peak-hour-traffic so I let it pass. I tried checking again today and these are the results:

Hays, I guess I won't be having a decent internet connection this coming holiday season, no decent webcam chat for us...just phonecalls.

I just hope these broadband problems with Smart end soon...I did not subscribe to a broadband service just to have the speed prepaid internet!
